-(12/16/2007-6:08 PM } - .....This Sunday was the Christmas Cantata. I kind of find that word kind of funny. But the Choir did an awesome job. That was a Christmas Music experience like nothing I have every experienced before. Awesome job to everyone. I am so looking forward to this Sunday and the time before Christmas. Your kids don't want to miss it. Merry Christmas to everyone. -(11/15/2007-1:27 AM } - .....It is quite early on a Friday Morning, I have been thinking about many things over the last few days. This Sunday we are going to be talking about what you sow is what you harvest. In relating this to Thanksgiving and the harvest of the first Thanksgiving. I have noticed a trend of what I call Spec-ta-vision. That is the ability of people (Kids and Adults) to view and try to remove the specs that may be in their neighbors eyes while ignoring the big ole plank in their own. Let me tell you about the problems you have, without regard for the issues in my own life. Let me tell you everything wrong with you, without regard to what I have in my own life. Don't correct me, because I can't possibly be wrong. Well the only thing I have to say is; becareful. When you can't see your own faults and admit them, you are heading for a greater downfall. I try to acknowledge my own limitations and pray for God to change them. Without acknowleding God's ability to change us we are, in fact, denying His place and power in our life. Let Christ change you, so others can see and make a change, through Christ, in themselves. -(10/08/2007-10:04 AM } - .....Sunday Nights are just awesome in what God is doing with the EDGE. Last night we had a great time. in the morning service we were discussing how God gives us power through His Holy Spirit. Then that night we were talking about Prayer. I stopped one time and told some kids that there was no kid's God and adult's God. But that their problems were just as big as the adults and that God wanted to help them be able to handle their problems as well. We had prayer stations. One prayer station just had the beginning of four prayers that they were to go and stand or sit and pray the beginning part then finish it with their own thoughts. I wanted them to pray out loud. I told them that the devil can not read your mind. The only way he knows what you are thinking is when you say it out loud or do something he can see. We had another station where they could give God a Post-it Note with their prayer. I told them that Post-it notes kept important information close and that is how God feels about their prayers. We had a third station where they could use some stamps to make a poster with their prayer thoughts on it. They kept these and I wanted them to put these on their walls or mirrors at home so it would remind them of their prayers. The fourth prayer station was a place where they could sit, stand, kneel, or lie down. The things was to share their prayers in their own way with God. I had two chairs and if they sat in those chairs they were telling everyone that they wanted someone to help them pray. The prayer time I had with the kids was awesome. Kids are sharing some very very personal things during these times and God is really showing up and meeting needs. To end the night as parents were coming in, I asked them to share one prayer request that others could help them pray for that was from the bottom of their heart. Not all did but again God met needs of the kids there. I shared to get things started a prayer request for God to help me not see my failures and that really got the things going. If you are missing Sunday nights, you are missing an opportunity to allow God to meet the needs in your kids lives. We do things a little differently. We kid of ease into the serious stuff. Hey here's an idea adults could volunteer to come up and share a page from their faith and prayer life with the kids. What they want more than anything is for Us to be Real in a Real way. I thought of a new slogan that I am going to use for a while. Less Conflict More Resolution. Peace to you. -(10/02/2007-9:36 AM } - .....What are we doing in teaching our kids? There is an epidemic in today's society, and it is, "If I don't like it, I will take my toys and go home." There is an idea that I don't need anybody and my kids don't either. If fact there is nothing further from the truth than that idea. When did we get the idea that God called us to pull up our roots run for the hills and not have impact or be impacted by anyone. All this really comes from a feeling in people that they are always right and they are superior to everyone else. God has not called us to be a lone island. He has called us to be an interrelated connection of ocean going vessels of His words and actions going into all the land to make an impact on the world today. The more quickly we stop pulling out of society and start putting into it the more quickly we will be able to carry out the great commission that Christ called us to. -( 07/05/2007-11:09 PM } - .....This week was a vacation week for my family. We took a trip to the beach for a time of rest and recouperation. We or rather I found myself trying to squeeze as much into our time as possible. I wanted to get pictures of everything possible. It was only after a while of doing this that I noticed something interesting. I was missing out on the real life and living of the moments by trying to take a picture and keep mementos of it all. We can at time be like this with the ministries that we are involved with. We are so intent on keeping things so that we can point to them as achievements that we miss out on the true point of ministry itself. To share God with others. Let's put down the cameras and live the experience to the full. -{ 05/21/2007-9:39 AM }- .....This weekend was a great weekend. With the Union Road Rangers going to Camporee in Whitter NC and some kids going to KidFest in Gatlinburg TN. We had kids covering all of Western NC and parts of TN being ministered to and doing ministry. A special thanks goes out to Commander Rob and his folks for experiencing camping and the ministry to the boys. Cindy, Ann Terry, Angie Freeman and myself started off on Friday to go to Gatlinburg. My kids, Josh and Jonah Beck, had talked about nothing else for 3 days. We took with us: Helen Freeman, Ellen Terry, Daniel Dorantes, Jay Simonds, Benny Dorantes, EmiLee Dorantes, Joshua Beck and Jonah Beck. We arrived on Friday at around 5:30 after a couple of stops along the way and had a quick bite of food, Pizza from the Hotel. Then it was off to the KidFest Service. The Church of God is privileged to have Tony Lane heading up the Children's Ministry at an organization level. This worship gathering was great. There was around 600-800 kids I would estimate. The services were led each night by the ministry team of RESCUE. They were awesome. Kevin McHann and His Word Studios ministered and it was a great worship service. We brought back some things and some ideas. Watch out Union Road, Pastor G is coming to you to get your help in EDGE Ministry. One of the favorite characters they had this weekend was SNOTMAN. He was, welllllllllllllll, special. You just had to be there. The kids went swimming Friday night and and late that night we had Ice Cream Sundaes. Saturday Cindy and I took all the kids down to Gatlinburg to look around and do a few things. We started off on the Trolley from the Park Vista and went down the mountain. Can you say steep. We arrived in front of Ripley's Aquarium and took all the kids there. It was great. Lots of hands on stuff, and the Dipping Dots weren't too bad either. We did a lot of walking talking eating and having fun and ended up in front of an arcade where we stopped for a while and played some games. The kids went swimming for a while and then got ready for the service. The service was attempted to be interrupted by technical difficulties, but God had other plans. The slight delay I think caused people to focus and pray. Once the difficulties were out of the way the service really went into a different direction. The Holy Spirit show Himself to all of us in a mighty way. Kids there that wanted to be filled just began to pray and open up their hearts and mouths to what God was wanting to do with them. Kids have a certain advantage over adults and that is they believe what we tell them. You tell them that the Holy Spirit is a gift from God and all you have to do is take it and receive it and that is what they do. Kids were praying to receive the Holy Spirit and all over the room gatherings of people were praying for one another. Emilee, Daniel, Helen, Ellen and Joshua. 97 Kids received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit that night. What a great rejoicing there must have been in Heaven. The night concluded that night in my room with everyone there sharing about the night. Sunday we got packed up and went to Service, more tired than anything else. At least I was. But God was prepared to meet us and exceed our expectations for what I had for this service. I had planned to pack our troop up a little early and get out of town, but God had other ideas. The Children's Pastors were asked to come up and the children who had received the Holy Spirit the night before were asked to come and pray for their Children's Pastor. Can I tell you that it was one of the most refreshing anointings of the Holy Ghost that I have received in quite a while. The Spirit was so real and present in and around us that the room almost seemed thick and rich with His presence. We reluctantly headed down the mountain and on our way home. Each one of us glad for the opportunity and better and closer to God and excited about His presence in our life this weekend. I hope to have a account of the Boys weekend up later this week. I know it was great as well. If you have a chance next year to go to KidFest it will well be worth you time and effort. We will start planning in August. So get ready.
