The 7th Avenue Church of God was organized on December 16, 1956 with nine members and was located at the corner of 7th Street and Garrison Avenue. The church has been served by 12 pastors in its 42-year history. Reverend Paul Collins notably served 23 years in three stints, most recently from 1987-1998. Under his capable leadership, the church grew and relocated in 1971 to its present location on Union Road. A fellowship hall was completed in 1991 and was partially destroyed by a tornado in 1997. A new Sanctuary was erected in 1997, and remodeling on the damaged portion was virtually completed in 1998. The church has encountered adversity in its illustrious history, and it has served to instill patience and a strong faith in God.
The Fraziers came to Union Road in the Fall of 1998 from Denver, Colorado, where they served one church for 20 years. Pastor Frazier's ministry callings include pastor, college professor, state youth director, evangelist, writer, and preacher. Ruth's experience has included positions as executive secretary, school teacher, child care director, and most importantly, homemaker.
They have three children: Lisa, in Christian ministry with her husband Shane Smith; Craig, a graduate of Lee University; Meagan, actively involved in our youth group; and a granddaughter, Alyssa. This pastoral couple believes that every Christian is a minister; and their calling is to help each person discover and develop their giftings for ministry.
